The ASTM A588 Grade A is a U.S. standard high-strength weathering structural steel plate (a588 weathering steel plate, also known as a588 corten steel plate).
During the rolling process, alloying elements such as Cu, P, Cr, Ni, and V are added, forming a dense protective oxide layer on the steel surface.
This layer effectively blocks moisture and corrosive media from penetrating, significantly improving the atmospheric corrosion resistance of the steel.
This a588 corten steel sheet not only offers exceptional corrosion resistance but can also be used in an unpainted condition for long-term exposure, eliminating the need for coating maintenance and making it suitable for service in harsh environments.
Product Features
Outstanding Weather Resistance – The atmospheric corrosion resistance is far superior to that of ordinary carbon steels (such as A36 and A572-50), and in most environments, it can be used without painting.
