The ASTM A588 rusty steel sheet is a high-strength, low-alloy structural steel plate designed for enhanced atmospheric corrosion resistance.
Commonly referred to as weathering steel, Astm A588 corten sheet, or a588 rusty metal plate, it is alloyed with copper (Cu), chromium (Cr), nickel (Ni), and phosphorus (P).
When exposed to the atmosphere over time, it forms a dense, stable rust-like protective layer that prevents further corrosion of the internal steel.

Standard: ASTM/A588M (U.S. Standard)
Heat Treatment Conditions: Hot rolled, normalized, tempered, or normalized + tempered (as required)
Production Process:
Electric Furnace Steelmaking → LF Refining → VD/VOD Vacuum Treatment → Continuous Casting / Ingot Casting → Rolling → Heat Treatment → Inspection & Storage.
Surface Quality
& Inspection
Surface Quality: Free from cracks, bubbles, scabs, or folds; slight oxide scale or minor scratches are allowed but must not exceed half the thickness tolerance.
Ultrasonic Testing: Can be performed in accordance with ASTM A578 (Grade A/B/C).
