Gnee completed the supply of 20.91 tons of custom SPA-H Corten Steel Garden Edging components for a customer in France. This project included 17,800 fabricated weathering steel components in three specifications, consisting of top-bent edging strips and 45° pointed steel components.

SPA-H Weathering Steel Material Supply and Mill Test Certificate
Gnee provided an material inspection certificate identifying SPA-H hot-rolled steel strip manufactured under Q/ASB 202-2023. The mill certificate lists raw-material dimensions of 2.0 × 1250 × C mm. SPA-H is a weathering steel grade also associated with JIS G 3125, but the actual supplied certificate specifies Q/ASB 202-2023.
The certificate records measured material properties, including a yield strength of 453–471 MPa, tensile strength of 535–536 MPa, and elongation of 36.5–39%.

Custom Processing of SPA-H Corten Steel Garden Edging
Precision Cutting of SPA-H Corten Steel Edging Strips
The fabrication process begins with material preparation and cutting according to the required component dimensions.
The two long edging profiles use nominal blank dimensions of 1.5 × 113 × 2000 mm and 1.5 × 213 × 2000 mm. The shorter components use 2.0 × 40 × 289 mm material dimensions.
Before production, cutting dimensions and the required profile must be confirmed to avoid errors during batch fabrication.
For suitable parts, CNC shearing machines can be used to prepare straight-edged blanks, while CNC fiber laser cutting machines offer flexibility for customized profiles, slots, and angled details.
The fabrication purchase agreement also required cutting photographs to be checked before continuing production, together with control of straightness for long steel components.
CNC Bending for Top-Bent Corten Steel Garden Bed Edging
The 1.5 × 113 × 2000 mm and 1.5 × 213 × 2000 mm components were specified as top-bent fabricated parts. Unlike flat landscape edging strips, top-bent components incorporate a formed upper edge. Depending on the finalized profile drawing, such a bend may provide an improved edge finish, added sectional rigidity, or a connection feature for an edging system.
CNC press brake equipment is appropriate for producing repeatable bends along long steel profiles. For top-bent SPA-H edging, important fabrication control points include:
- Material thickness and developed blank width
- Bend position, angle, and inside radius

For the French shipment, the customer requested no factory pre-rusting treatment.

Based on the specified quantities and packaging instructions, the allocation corresponds to 11 pallet loads of 113 mm strips, 7 pallet loads of 213 mm strips, and 120 cartons of short components, before any final transport consolidation.
The supply agreement required protective cartons and pallets suitable for the transportation load. It also established a process for cooperating with customer-appointed third-party inspection before final bundling.
SPA-H Corten Steel Component Quality Inspection
The French order was supported by both an original SPA-H material certificate and a finished-product inspection report.
The material certificate provided chemical composition, tensile test results, and bending test records. The finished-product inspection report focused on component dimensions, surface appearance, packaging, and the final delivery assessment.
