1. How to customize exclusive rust colors
Warm reddish-brown: Promote uniform oxidation in a moderate humidity environment (60%-70%) for 2-4 weeks;
Dark brown with gray undertones: Introduce low-concentration salt spray (simulating coastal environments) to deepen the patina;
Light terracotta: Control partial oxidation with intermittent moisture (avoid full saturation) to create a lighter, matte rust tone.
Standardize the base surface to avoid uneven rusting;
Adjust the rust's texture (e.g., smooth, granular) while fine-tuning the color tone.
2. Limitations to note
Cannot deviate from iron oxide's natural spectrum: Corten steel's rust color is inherently in the brown/red/orange family; it cannot be customized into non-iron-oxide colors (e.g., blue, green, black).
Uniformity requires professional control: Uncontrolled outdoor weathering may lead to uneven color (e.g., patchy rust), so custom colors usually require factory-controlled aging (not on-site rusting).
Long-term stability: Even sealed, the rust patina may slightly darken over years of outdoor exposure (but the core tone remains consistent).
