Corrosion Isolation Between Luminous Components and Weathering Steel
Use non-conductive gaskets (e.g., EPDM rubber, PVC) between the luminous character base and the weathering steel sign panel. This prevents galvanic corrosion caused by contact between different metals (e.g., LED aluminum brackets and weathering steel).
Avoid drilling excessive holes in the weathering steel panel; use stainless steel fasteners (304/316 grade) for fixing-ordinary steel screws will rust and stain the patina surface.
Waterproof and Moisture-Proof Design
Seal all wiring holes with weather-resistant sealant (e.g., neutral silicone) to prevent rainwater from entering the LED circuit and causing short circuits.
For outdoor signs, choose IP65 or higher waterproof-rated luminous characters to withstand rain, snow, and humidity.
Patina Compatibility
If the weathering steel sign is already forming a patina, clean the installation area with a soft brush first (do not use acidic cleaners) to remove loose rust, then install the luminous characters. The dense patina itself has good corrosion resistance and will not affect the installation stability.

3. Maintenance Precautions
Regular Inspection of Luminous Components: Check the LED circuit and wiring connections every 3–6 months to ensure no loose contacts or water seepage. Replace damaged LEDs promptly to avoid affecting the overall sign function.
Patina Maintenance: Do not scrub the weathering steel surface around the luminous characters vigorously; if dust or dirt accumulates, rinse with clean water and let it air dry naturally. Avoid using abrasive tools that damage the protective patina.
Avoid High-Temperature Damage: Ensure the LED working temperature is within the safe range (generally -20°C to 60°C). For signs in high-temperature areas, choose low-heat LED strips to prevent thermal deformation of the sealing gaskets.
