1. Apply a transparent protective finish (most important)
Once the surface reaches your desired color (usually stable dark brown):
Use matte transparent acrylic, polyurethane (PU) varnish, or special weathering steel protective oil
Forms a breathable barrier that stops further color darkening
Prevents rust streaks, water stains, and discoloration
Reapply every 3–5 years to maintain effect
2. Regular gentle cleaning
Rinse with clean water every 3–6 months to remove dust and dirt
Use a soft cloth or soft brush; do not scrub hard
Avoid acid, alkaline, or corrosive detergentsThis keeps color even and prevents patchy darkening.

3. Prevent water retention and rust streaks
Ensure the sign has good drainage slopes
Avoid gaps, grooves, or recesses where rainwater accumulates
Wipe off standing water if found in timeWaterlogging is the main cause of light spots and dark streaks.
4. Avoid contact with foreign materials
Do not let cement, lime, soil, or wet wood touch the surface
Isolate dissimilar metals (stainless steel, aluminum) with rubber gasketsThese cause electrochemical corrosion and color spots.

5. Keep away from strong corrosive sources
Avoid nearby chemical fumes, exhaust emissions, or high-concentration salt spray
In coastal or industrial areas, strengthen the protective coating
6. Repair minor color damage in time
For small scratches or fading areas:Lightly sand → apply a small amount of color accelerator → re-coat with transparent finishThis keeps the overall color consistent.
