Corten steel naturally forms a protective patina when exposed to weather, providing excellent resistance to corrosion. However, surface treatments can enhance its durability, appearance, and resistance to environmental factors, offering additional benefits depending on the project requirements.
Pre-Weathering
Pre-weathering is a process that accelerates the natural rusting of Corten steel. By exposing the steel to moisture and specific chemicals, the surface develops the characteristic rusted patina more quickly. This is particularly useful in architectural and design projects where an aged, weathered appearance is desired from the start.
