S355J2WP Corten Steel Pipe is a corrosion-resistant steel plate that complies with the EN 10025 standard and is primarily used in container steel. Its typical chemical composition includes 0.12% C, 0.20–0.45% Si, 0.50–1.50% Mn, 0.25–0.55% Cr, 0.60–1.25% Cu, and ≤0.03% P, elements that significantly enhance atmospheric corrosion resistance.
In addition, S355J2WP steel, with higher atmospheric fracture toughness, is widely used in construction, chimneys, fabrication, freight wagons, silos, pylons, and bridges.
Its mechanical properties are excellent, with a tensile strength of approximately 510–680 MPa and a yield strength of not less than 355 MPa, ensuring both the formation of a protective corrosion layer and an attractive appearance.
Corten S355J2WP welded pipes are a high-strength steel alloy suitable for applications requiring higher strength and longer service life, especially where untreated alloys are preferred.
Through a "rust-brown" process, a patina-like layer can form on the surface of the weathering steel, expanding its application even in interior structures.
Corten S355J2WP weather-resistant steel pipes used in flue gas systems can effectively extend the service life of chimneys and flue gas ducts, typically reaching 30–50 years.
The term "weathering" refers to the chemical composition of Corten S355J2WP steel, which allows it to resist atmospheric corrosion 4–8 times more effectively than ordinary structural steel.
This is because, under natural environmental conditions, a dense protective oxide layer gradually forms on the steel surface. Corten S355J2WP weathering steel pipes are allowed to rust naturally, and this rust layer develops into a protective layer that significantly reduces further corrosion.
