ACR Corten Steel Plate, like A588, A242 Corten Steel, also known as weathering steel, is a type of low-alloy structural steel enhanced by the addition of alloying elements such as Cu, P, and C.
These elements improve the steel's resistance to atmospheric corrosion. In corrosive environments - especially industrial settings - weathering steel forms a dense and stable oxide protective layer on its surface, which significantly slows down the rate of corrosion and gives the material excellent durability against atmospheric conditions.
Key Features of Weathering Steel
(1) High strength, toughness, ductility, formability, weldability, abrasion resistance, heat resistance, and fatigue resistance.
(2) Corrosion resistance is 2 to 8 times higher than that of ordinary carbon steel, and paint adhesion is 1.5 to 10 times better.
(3) The rust layer helps protect the steel, extending its service life, allowing for reduced thickness, saving materials, labor, and energy.
