Pre-Patination Treatment (Most Reliable Method)
Process the screen in a controlled factory environment (60–70% humidity, 20–25°C, consistent airflow on both sides) with a weathering steel-specific rust accelerator. This ensures both sides form a uniform, mature patina simultaneously before on-site installation, regardless of the final installation environment.

On-Site Installation Design for Balanced Exposure
If relying on natural weathering:
Install the screen with a 5–10° tilt and 10–15 mm spacing from adjacent structures, to ensure airflow and rainwater contact on both sides
Avoid mounting the screen against a solid wall or in a shaded area that blocks one side from sunlight and moisture
Rotate the screen periodically (every 2–4 weeks) during the initial 3 months of weathering, to balance exposure on both sides

If the screen is installed in a location where one side is permanently enclosed or lacks airflow, only the exposed side will form a full patina; the protected side will remain with a lighter, incomplete oxide layer
Double-sided pre-patination will not affect the self-healing ability of the patina-both sides will still repair minor damage automatically during service
