Routine basic care (all normal outdoor environments)
Simply rinse the sculpture surface with clean water 2–3 times a year (or wipe with a soft dry cloth) to remove dust, bird droppings, and debris; avoid acidic/alkaline cleaners, steel wool, or abrasive tools that damage the patina layer. Ensure the sculpture has good drainage/ventilation to prevent standing water and uneven patina.

Targeted protection (harsh environments only)
For sculptures in high-salt coastal areas (≤1km from the sea), heavy industrial zones with acid mist/dust, or high-humidity closed spaces: spray a thin, UV-resistant transparent weathering steel sealer on the mature patina once every 1–2 years. This retains the patina's texture and color while preventing pitting corrosion and patina peeling.

Accidental damage handling (minimal intervention)
For minor scratches/wear on the patina, leave the area to natural weathering-ASTM A606's alloy elements (Cu/Cr/Ni) will self-repair the patina over time. For severe damage exposing bare steel, clean the area with a dry cloth and let it form new patina naturally; no special rust removers or repairs are needed.

Key maintenance taboos
Do not apply ordinary paint, epoxy, or oil-based coatings (they cover the patina and peel off as the steel rusts internally); do not move the sculpture frequently to avoid friction damage to the protective patina layer.
