Products Description
S235J2 steel and S235J2W steel are both structural steels under the EN 10025 standard, widely used in construction and engineering applications.
While they share similar mechanical strength and impact toughness, the key difference lies in their resistance to atmospheric corrosion. S235J2 is a non-alloy structural steel known for its excellent weldability and impact performance at low temperatures.

In contrast, S235J2W is a weather-resistant (Corten-type) steel containing alloying elements such as copper, chromium, and nickel, which allow it to form a stable rust-like patina that protects the material from further corrosion.
This makes S235J2W a preferred choice for outdoor structures, bridges, and architectural applications where long-term durability and minimal maintenance are essential.

Difference in steel application
EN 10025-2 S235J2 grade is a structural grade steel with a minimum yield strength of 235 MPa which widely used in the engineering and construction industries.
EN 10025-2 S235J2W grade is a structural steel material with improved atmoSPHEric corrosion resistance.
Both S235J2 and S235J2W steels provide reliable performance in structural applications, but their suitability depends on the environment and design requirements.
S235J2 is ideal for general indoor or sheltered constructions where corrosion is not a major concern, offering good toughness and weldability at a lower cost.
S235J2W, on the other hand, excels in outdoor or exposed conditions thanks to its self-protecting oxide layer, which significantly reduces maintenance needs and extends service life.
Choosing between the two ultimately depends on balancing cost, appearance, and environmental durability to meet the specific demands of each project.
