Raw Material Selection
S355J0W steel begins with careful selection of low-carbon, low-alloy steel, with small additions of copper, chromium, nickel, and phosphorus. These elements enhance the steel's atmospheric corrosion resistance and ensure good weldability and toughness. The chemical composition is strictly controlled to meet EN 10025-5 standards.

Melting and Refining
The steel is melted in a Basic Oxygen Furnace (BOF) or Electric Arc Furnace (EAF). During refining, impurities such as sulfur and phosphorus are removed, and alloying elements are adjusted to achieve a homogeneous chemical composition and consistent mechanical properties.

Continuous Casting
Molten steel is cast into slabs using continuous casting machines, producing semi-finished slabs with uniform thickness and minimal internal defects. Typical slab dimensions are 1500–2500 mm wide and 200–300 mm thick.

Heating and Hot Rolling
Slabs are reheated to 1100–1250°C and undergo multi-pass hot rolling in roughing and finishing mills. The rolling process reduces the thickness to the desired range (6–200 mm) while achieving the required mechanical performance. Controlled cooling follows to refine the microstructure.

Normalizing and Heat Treatment
Plates are heated to 890–950°C and air-cooled in a controlled manner. This process refines the grain size, improves toughness, and stabilizes mechanical properties across the thickness.

Surface Preparation and Finishing
After rolling and normalizing, the plates undergo descaling via mechanical or chemical methods. Optional surface treatments, such as light sanding or shot blasting, can be applied to enhance the formation of the protective rust layer for outdoor use.

Quality Control and Testing
Each plate is subjected to strict mechanical and chemical testing, including tensile, yield, elongation, and impact tests. Dimensional checks ensure thickness, width, flatness, and straightness meet specifications. Once approved, the plates are marked, packed, and shipped.
