Products Description

SMA400AW can resist the corrosive effects of rain, snow, ice, fog, and other meteorological conditions. Its chemical composition, including C ≤ 0.12%, Si 0.35–0.55%, Mn 0.40–1.50%, Cu 0.25–0.55%, and Cr 0.30–1.25%, provides excellent weathering performance.

Under long-term natural exposure, SMA400AW forms a dense dark brown oxide layer approximately 50–100 μm thick, which effectively slows further corrosion.

This protective layer ensures a service life of 20–30 years in urban or industrial environments, and over 25 years in coastal or high-humidity conditions.

Its typical mechanical properties include a yield strength of around 400 MPa, tensile strength of 490–610 MPa, and elongation of at least 22%, combining strength and corrosion resistance to significantly reduce the need for painting and costly rust-prevention maintenance over many years.

Products Application

The applications of JIS SMA400AW are very extensive, making it an ideal material for agricultural vans, railway wagons, bridge structures, water pipes, fans, chimneys, and boilers.

Its chemical composition, including C ≤ 0.12%, Si 0.35–0.55%, Mn 0.40–1.50%, Cu 0.25–0.55%, and Cr 0.30–1.25%, ensures excellent corrosion resistance in various outdoor environments.

The steel surface naturally forms a dense oxide layer approximately 50–100 μm thick, effectively preventing further corrosion and providing a service life of 20–30 years in urban or industrial conditions, and over 25 years in coastal or high-humidity environments.

Its typical mechanical properties, including a yield strength of around 400 MPa, tensile strength of 490–610 MPa, and elongation of at least 22%, combined with its weathering resistance and high strength, allow it to withstand various structural loads while significantly reducing painting and maintenance costs.

JIS SMA400AW is mainly used for the fabrication of tanks, containers, bridges, frame structures, and vehicles, and is suitable for welding, bolting, and other structural connection methods, making it a highly cost-effective choice for engineering projects exposed to long-term outdoor conditions.
