SMA400BW is a low-alloy, high-strength weathering steel plate conforming to JIS G3114, specifically designed for long-term outdoor structural applications with excellent atmospheric corrosion resistance.

 

Unlike ordinary carbon steel, SMA400BW gradually forms a dense oxide layer approximately 50–100 μm thick under natural exposure. This protective layer effectively slows further corrosion, providing a service life of 20–30 years in urban or industrial environments, and over 25 years in coastal or high-humidity conditions.

In addition to corrosion resistance, this steel plate exhibits excellent mechanical properties, with a yield strength of 400 MPa, a tensile strength ranging from 490 to 610 MPa, and an elongation of at least 22%, maintaining good toughness even in low-temperature conditions.

 

Its chemical composition, with controlled amounts of copper, nickel, and chromium, ensures both structural strength and excellent weldability, allowing it to be used outdoors without additional coatings.
