Products Description
A709-50W steel pipe is manufactured from a low-alloy, high-strength structural weathering steel. The designation "50W" indicates that the material provides a minimum tensile strength of 50 ksi (approximately 345 MPa) and has enhanced atmospheric corrosion resistance (the "W" stands for weathering).

Due to its ability to withstand moisture, salt, and fluctuating temperatures, this material is widely applied in structural and infrastructure projects, especially in marine environments and regions with severe climates, offering a long service life and excellent corrosion performance.

Technical Requirements
ASTM A709-50W Corten Steel Seamless Tubing must comply with U.S. ASME standards. Ultrasonic testing of steel plates shall follow the ASTM A578 standard, and the inspection level (A, B, or C) must be identified at the time of ordering.
Heat Treatment of A709-50W Weathering Steel Pipe
A709-50W weathering steel pipes are generally supplied in a hot-rolled or controlled-rolled condition, and can also be quenched and tempered when required.
To improve toughness and ductility, accelerated cooling (faster than air cooling) is permissible, provided that the material is subsequently tempered.
The tempering temperature range is 1100–1300°F (approximately 595–705°C), which should be clearly specified in the purchase order.
