09CrCuSb tube is a kind of alloy steel tube widely used in preheater and heat exchanger. It is widely used in power plants and refineries to manufacture coal economizers, air preheaters, heat exchangers and evaporators which work in high sulfur flue gas to resist condensation corrosion of sulfur flue gas.

 

The low-alloy ND steel 09CrCuSb, which is resistant to sulfuric acid dew point corrosion for seamless steel tubes, plates, forgings and special welding materials, was prepared by smelting in ultra-high power electric furnace, refining outside furnace and vacuum degassing.

09CrCuSb

It is characterized by the formation of a dense passivation film rich in Cr, Cu, Sb and Ti on its surface during the corrosion process, so it has a high anticorrosion ability.

 

ND steel is a low alloy structural steel.Compared with other types of steel such as mild steel, Corten, CR1A, ND steel has excellent corrosion resistance and mechanical properties

Applications and Advantages

 

The 09CrCuSb seamless steel pipe is extensively utilized in the production of economizers, air preheaters, heat exchangers, evaporators, and other equipment operating in high-sulfur gas environments. These pipes are specifically designed to resist condensation corrosion caused by sulfur-containing flue gases.

 

They exhibit outstanding resistance to low-temperature sulfuric acid dew point corrosion, particularly at flue gas temperatures below 200°C, making them a new generation of energy-efficient, environmentally friendly materials.

 

In terms of cost, the special sulfuric acid dew point corrosion-resistant 09CrCuSb boiler heat exchanger pipes are priced at approximately ¥9,000 per ton, which is only about 40% of the cost of stainless steel pipes of equivalent specification. Despite the lower cost, their corrosion resistance in sulfur-containing media matches or exceeds that of stainless steel. Experimental data show a corrosion rate of 3.481 mg/cm²·h (34.81 g/m²·h) in 50% sulfuric acid at 70°C.

 

Furthermore, the corrosion resistance of ND steel (09CrCuSb) is over 3 times higher than 321 stainless steel and 7 times greater than standard 20g carbon steel under the same conditions. These properties make ND steel the preferred material for experimental chemical plants and industrial systems exposed to sulfur-containing environments, offering a reliable and cost-effective solution for long-term operation.
