1. Natural Patina Color Range (Main Options)
Initial Rust Stage (1–3 months): Light reddish-brown with uneven rust spots. This color is temporary and not recommended for finished flower beds, as loose rust may stain soil or plants.
Mature Patina Stage (6–12 months natural, 2–4 weeks artificial): Uniform reddish-brown to dark brown (the classic weathering steel color). This is the most stable and popular option, blending well with garden landscapes.
Aged Patina Stage (1–3 years): The color deepens slightly to dark reddish-brown or bronze as the patina layer thickens and densifies. This hue adds a sense of time and texture to the flower bed.

2. Methods to Adjust Patina Color
Artificial Accelerator Formulas: Different commercial patina accelerators (e.g., those with higher copper sulfate content) can produce slightly cooler or warmer reddish-brown tones. For example:
High-iron accelerators: Tend to create a brighter reddish-brown.
High-copper accelerators: Result in a deeper, bronze-tinged brown.
Humidity & Temperature Control: Higher humidity (80–90%) during acceleration leads to a darker patina, while moderate humidity (60–70%) produces a lighter, more vibrant hue.
Post-Treatment with Transparent Stains: For subtle color adjustments, apply a breathable, transparent tinted sealant after patina maturation. These sealants can shift the color slightly toward copper, terracotta, or dark bronze without covering the patina's texture. Note: Avoid opaque paints-they block the patina's self-healing ability and will peel over time.

3. Color Limitations to Note
No Bright or Neon Colors: Weathering steel cannot be made into bright colors (e.g., blue, green, yellow) permanently. Any such colors would require non-breathable paint, which contradicts the material's low-maintenance, corrosion-resistant properties.
Color Uniformity Depends on Batch & Processing: Flower bed panels from the same batch of weathering steel will develop more consistent patina colors. Spliced panels should be accelerated together to avoid color differences.
