Applications of China GB/T 4171 Q550NH Weather Resistant Steel Plate

Q550NH Weather Resistant Steel Plate are very extensive. It is widely used in vehicles, bridges, towers, containers, and other structural components exposed to long-term outdoor conditions.

This steel plate is a high-strength, low-alloy weathering steel, with typical mechanical properties including a yield strength of 550 MPa, tensile strength of 650–810 MPa, and elongation of 18–22%, maintaining excellent toughness and reliability even in low-temperature environments.

The surface of Q550NH steel naturally forms a dense oxide layer approximately 50–100 μm thick, effectively slowing further corrosion and providing a service life of 20–30 years in urban or industrial conditions, and over 25 years in coastal or high-humidity environments.

Thanks to its high strength, corrosion resistance, and low maintenance requirements, GB/T 4171 Q550NH steel plates are widely applied in bridge main beams, railway vehicle underframes, container structures, tower supports, building frames, and large outdoor facilities, making it a reliable choice of weathering steel for engineering and construction projects.
