Products Description

SMA400CW corten steel conforms to the JIS G3114 standard and is widely used in air preheaters, economizers, railway carriages, container manufacturing, bridge construction, and other civil engineering projects.

SMA400CW

This steel typically contains: C 0.12% max, Si 0.35–0.55%, Mn 0.40–1.50%, P ≤0.035%, S ≤0.030%, Cu 0.25–0.55%, which enhance its atmospheric corrosion resistance.

Under natural exposure, SMA400CW forms a dense oxide layer approximately 50–100 μm thick, effectively reducing corrosion and providing a service life of 20–30 years in urban or industrial environments, and up to 25+ years in coastal areas.

Products Application

SMA400CW Corten steel (JIS G3114) is a high-strength, low-alloy weathering steel widely used in air preheaters, economizers, railway carriages, container production, bridge construction, and various civil engineering projects.

Its chemical composition, including 0.12% carbon, 0.35–0.55% silicon, 0.40–1.50% manganese, and 0.25–0.55% copper, ensures excellent atmospheric corrosion resistance.

With a yield strength of 400 MPa, a tensile strength between 490 and 610 MPa, and an elongation of at least 22%, SMA400CW provides both the strength and ductility required for demanding structural applications.

When exposed to natural environments, the steel develops a dense oxide layer approximately 50–100 μm thick, which significantly slows corrosion and allows a service life of 20–30 years in urban or industrial areas, and over 25 years in coastal or high-humidity conditions.

Thanks to its combination of high strength, good weldability, and long-term durability, SMA400CW is an ideal material for load-bearing components, outdoor structures, and heavy engineering applications, effectively reducing maintenance costs while maintaining structural reliability.
