Gnee offers a Corten weathering steel facade system, specially designed for commercial hotels and high-end public buildings.
Each corten steel panel undergoes strict quality control to ensure long-term outdoor use without rust, perforation, or cracking, while showcasing a unique deep terracotta color that creates a distinctive modern facade for the hotel.
How to maintenance for commercial hotels
To prevent natural weathering from damaging the façade, we apply a pre-oxidation (accelerated rusting) treatment during the construction phase.

After the steel panels are installed in the factory or on-site, a professional rust accelerator is used to rapidly form a stable deep terracotta color within 3–7 days.
At the same time, a pore-sealing treatment with a coating thickness of approximately 20–30 μm locks in the rust, preventing runoff and ensuring a clean, uniform façade appearance.
After the accelerated rusting process, we spray 2–3 layers of transparent protective coating (Topcoat / Anti-Graffiti Coating) on the panel surface, with each layer approximately 15–20 μm thick and a total thickness of 40–60 μm.

This protective layer locks in the rust, prevents rain-induced discoloration, and guards against fingerprints and minor graffiti. This is especially important for low-touch areas up to 2.5 meters in height, which can be further protected with high-transparency laminated glass barriers if needed.
Annual inspections of the fasteners and façade structure are conducted to ensure there is no water accumulation, nesting by birds, or electrochemical corrosion of the screws.
Furthermore, our weathering steel façades are designed to withstand commercial environment pollution. For areas exposed to vehicle exhaust, such as drop-off zones, it is recommended to clean the surface every 1–2 weeks with a neutral, highly diluted car wash solution, followed by rinsing with clean water and drying.
In winter, surfaces exposed to road salt or de-icing chemicals must be promptly rinsed to prevent salt corrosion at the base and panel joints.

Our weathering steel façade system achieves an aesthetically stable appearance upon installation, while the combination of pre-oxidation, pore-sealing, and transparent protective coating ensures long-term, low-maintenance performance.
Coupled with a data-driven maintenance schedule and commercial pollution protection measures, it guarantees that hotel façades remain safe, visually appealing, and durable over the long term.

Is Corten cladding expensive?
Although corten steel may seem more expensive at first, it is a smart choice in the long term as it lasts longer and requires little maintenance. The price difference between traditional steel and corten steel is minimal. Corten steel is more expensive due to the materials used and the specialized production process.
How long will corten steel last outside?
Generally, Corten steel will patina or rust within six months of atmospheric exposure. Most weathering steel types need wet/dry weather cycles to develop and oxidize. With the protective rust that provides corrosion resistance, Corten steel can last upwards of a few decades to over 100 years.
What does corten steel look like before it rusts?
While many select corten, or weathering steel, because of its practical benefits, others select the steel for the appearance of its rusty, orange-brown patina. However, weathering steel is silver in its original state – just like standard steel. The patina develops over time when exposed to weather
How thick is a Corten panel?
The Corten is available in thicknesses from 22 gauge up to ½" thick in a variety of lengths and widths, which makes it compatible with any type of project
