ASTM A709 Grade HPS 50W is a high-performance, low-alloy structural steel designed specifically for bridge construction. It provides a minimum yield strength of 345 MPa and delivers outstanding atmospheric corrosion resistance, making it suitable for long-service bridge structures without frequent maintenance.

This grade can be supplied in multiple delivery conditions, including as-rolled, controlled rolled, TMCP (with or without accelerated cooling), or quenched and tempered, depending on project requirements.
A709 Grade HPS 50W products are available as structural shapes, plates, bars, and quenched and tempered alloy steel intended for critical structural components in bridge applications. Heat analysis is conducted to determine the required levels of carbon, manganese, phosphorus, sulfur, silicon, copper, and other alloying elements.
