RE800W weathering steel is a hot-rolled, ultra-thin, ultra-high-strength weathering steel, engineered for container side panels, roof panels, and door panels.
As an 800 MPa-class weathering steel, it delivers 700 MPa-class yield / 800 MPa-class tensile strength at 1.2 mm, with a Cu–Cr–Ni weathering alloy system.

RE800W Weathering Steel Application Advantages in Container
Over 70 % of a container's tare weight is steel - the heavier the box, the less cargo it can carry. That is exactly where RE800W weathering steel delivers value: replacing conventional 1.6 mm SPA-H with 1.2 mm cuts panel weight by a verified 25 %, while yield strength rises from 355 MPa to 700 MPa.
Thinner, yet stronger - with more margin for high-bay stacking, ocean motion and port lifting. Under unchanged road and vessel gross weight limits, the weight saved converts directly into payload on every trip.
At the same time, the Cu-Cr-Ni weathering alloy gives the box 2–8× the atmospheric corrosion resistance of ordinary carbon steel for longer service life; oil-free delivery removes a degreasing stage from the line, with no paint sagging and less springback; and purchasing cost drops by around RMB 500 per tonne.

RE800W Weathering Steel Quality Inspection
Four inspection categories are completed before every batch is released.
Composition verification - per-heat optical emission spectrometry, cross-checked line by line against the Mill Test Certificate.
Mechanical testing - tensile and cold bend tests per lot, confirming that every coil meets 700 MPa yield and 800 MPa tensile, not just the sample.
Dimensional and shape control - online thickness and width gauging across full coil length, plus offline verification of flatness and camber after continuous leveling.
Surface inspection - full-length surface checks controlling oxide consistency, scratches, and edge condition, guaranteeing oil-free delivery. Every coil ships with an MTC and full heat-number traceability.

RE800W Weathering Steel Standard Export Packaging
For long ocean transits in humid, salt-laden conditions, RE800W weathering steel coils are wrapped with a moisture barrier and VCI material, with desiccant per coil.
Inner and outer steel guard rings plus edge protectors protect the coil edges. Coils are strapped with a minimum of four high-tensile steel bands and secured on ISPM 15-certified fumigated wooden supports.
Each coil carries a weather-resistant tag showing heat number, gauge, width, weight and MTC reference for immediate verification on arrival and full-process traceability.
High-resolution photo and video documentation is provided before container loading, recording pallet serial numbers, strapping and moisture sealing.
